Why we’re doing:
- We have a housing crisis in Lewis County
- Supply extremely low: 1.1 months’ supply
- Homeowner vacancy rate at 1.7, rental at 4.5%
- 69% decrease in supply from 2012 to 2021
- 127% increase in median sale prices from 2012 to 2021
- Solutions need to be cross-jurisdictional
- Policy approaches taken in one jurisdiction impacts others
- Desire to take a regional approach
What we’re doing:
- Convening locally elected leaders across Lewis County
- Jurisdictions send 1-2 representatives
- Using safety protocols in response to Covid
- Our purpose is to educate ourselves and have shared knowledge
